Product Overview & Operating Principle
The PTM series Triple-Roller Mill (Three Roll Mill) is an ultra-precision grinding and dispersing machine designed for high, medium, and low-viscosity pastes and thixotropic slurries. Consisting of three horizontally aligned rollers rotating at differential speeds, it crushes particle agglomerates and disperses pigments into liquid binders via intensive hydraulic shear and compressive forces.
Three-Roll Differential Shear & Micrometer Gap Adjustment
The rear (slow) roller rotates backward while the front (fast) roller rotates forward. The middle roller remains fixed, with the front and rear rollers mounted on slide carriages fitted with spring-loaded handwheels for micrometer gap calibration. Material is fed into the space between the rear and middle rollers, squeezed through the narrow nip gaps, transferred to the fast roller, and cleanly separated by the scraper knife into discharge collection barrels.

- Internal Roller Cooling (ΔT < 10°C): Hollow rollers feature continuous internal chilled water circulation, ensuring the operating slurry temperature rise is strictly held below 10°C to protect heat-sensitive resins.
- Custom Roller Metallurgy: Rollers can be cast from chilled alloy iron or fabricated from high-purity Zirconia (α-ZrO²) and Alumina (α-Al²O³) ceramics to eliminate metallic contamination.
- Precision Particle Size Reduction: Delivers sub-micron to micron-level fineness across offset inks, electronic pastes, cosmetic creams, and pharmaceutical ointments.
- Explosion-Proof & Operator Safety: Configured with emergency stop buttons, safety nip guards, and aluminum alloy explosion-proof electrical panels for hazardous area compliance.
- Easy Cleaning & Rapid Changeovers: Smooth stainless steel frame cladding and accessible scraper knives facilitate fast washdowns between color batch shifts.
