Complete manufacturing lines engineered for organic and inorganic pigments. Maximize color strength with sub-micron bead milling and zero metallic contamination.
In the pigment and color paste industry, particle size dictates quality. Failing to thoroughly break down pigment agglomerates results in poor tinting strength, weak gloss, and inconsistent color matching. Conversely, utilizing inferior grinding equipment can introduce metallic iron shed into the batch, immediately dulling vibrant colors and turning pure whites gray.
Shanghai POLYC Machine designs and manufactures complete Turnkey Pigment Production Lines tailored to overcome these exact challenges. Our integrated systems synchronize heavy-duty High-Speed Dispersers (for initial powder wetting) with advanced Horizontal Bead Mills (capable of 50nm ultra-fine grinding). By utilizing pure Zirconia ceramics in our grinding chambers, we guarantee the highest achievable color yield with absolutely zero metallic contamination.
The Heart of the Pigment Line: POLYC PZB Nano Bead Mill. Engineered with advanced pin-rotor technology to deliver precise sub-micron color dispersion.
| Production Stage | Recommended Equipment | Engineering Function in the Line |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Pre-Dispersion | PDM High-Speed Disperser | Inducts raw pigment powders into solvents/resins. The high-shear Cowles disc (1450 RPM) creates a vortex, breaking down primary lumps and ensuring total powder wetting. |
| 2. Fine Wet Grinding | PZB / PZD Horizontal Bead Mill | The core color-development engine. Utilizes 0.1-2.0mm micro-beads spinning at 22-28 m/s to shear pigment agglomerates down to the nano-scale (50nm - 2µm). |
| 3. Color Agitation | Low-Speed Agitation Tanks | Holds the finely milled color paste, keeping it in constant slow suspension to prevent settling before the final packaging phase. |
| 4. Filtration & Filling | Bag Filters & Volumetric Fillers | Passes the paste through micron-rated filter bags to remove any unbroken oversized particles, then volumetrically doses it into pails or drums. |
Inorganic pigments are dense, highly abrasive, and require massive mechanical force to disperse. For these materials, we configure the production line with PZD Disc-Type Bead Mills utilizing hardened wear-resistant alloys or Silicon Carbide (SiC) rotors, ensuring maximum durability against abrasive wear.
Organic pigments are lighter, harder to wet, and highly sensitive to heat. For these, we deploy PZB Pin-Type Bead Mills. The pin geometry provides explosive shear to unlock color strength, while multi-zone cooling jackets extract friction heat instantly, preventing thermal damage to the organic molecular structure.
If your facility produces dozens of custom color batches daily, running them all through closed-pipe horizontal mills leads to massive solvent waste. We integrate PZM Immersion Basket Mills into the line layout for small batches, allowing 5-minute color changeovers with zero pipeline residuals.
For extremely thick color pastes that resist flow, standard dispersers will cavitate. In these scenarios, the pre-mixing stage is upgraded to a Concentric Double Shaft Mixer equipped with PTFE wall scrapers to physically force the heavy paste into the dispersion zone before milling.
The essential pre-mixing workhorse. Rapidly wets out dry pigment powders into liquid resins.
The core engine for maximizing color tinting strength through sub-micron media shearing.
Eliminates pipeline waste. Perfect for facilities producing dozens of custom spot colors daily.
Engineered to process both automotive-grade organics and heavy inorganic iron oxides.
Steel grinding chambers inevitably shed microscopic iron particles during high-speed milling. In pure white TiO2 or light yellow pigments, this metallic contamination instantly grays out the color. POLYC eliminates this by lining our bead mill chambers and rotors with 100% pure Yttria-stabilized Zirconia ceramic, ensuring the color stays vibrant and perfectly true.
Pushing high-viscosity pastes through a dense bed of micro-beads generates massive frictional heat, which can prematurely cure resins or degrade organic binders. Both our mobile mixing tanks and the bead mill grinding chambers are engineered with double-wall cooling jackets to circulate chilled water, maintaining strict temperature boundaries throughout the line.
